Swarm eval kit for connecting to IoT space network
IoT smallsat startup Swarm Technologies has introduced an evaluation kit that will users to build IoT sensors that can relay data through the Swarm network from anywhere on the planet.

The Swarm Eval Kit is offered as an out-of-the-box satellite communications kit that allows non-technical users to send GPS locations and messages through their phones, and more technical users to build IoT devices that can relay data through the Swarm network from anywhere on the planet. The kit includes everything needed for quick development, testing, and IoT product creation.

The Eval Kit automatically sends a GPS location when powered on. Users can use a mobile phone or laptop to interface with a pre-loaded web app to modify the GPS ping cadence and send messages through the Swarm satellite network to any email address.

The Swarm Eval Kit includes:

  • FeatherS2 – ESP32 board + OLED for quick development, testing, and IoT product creation
  • Turn-key with 9W solar panel
  • Rechargeable 9000 mAh battery
  • IP68 waterproof enclosure
  • Aluminum tripod
  • Satellite antenna
  • GPS antenna
  • Wi0Fi/USB-C/USB-micro/serial inputs

The Swarm Eval kit is $499. The Swarm data plan (at $60 annually) is required to transmit with the Eval Kit and will automatically be added to any Eval Kit purchase. The data plan provides 750 one-way data packets per device per month, up to 192 Bytes per packet. The plan is billed yearly up front and renews annually unless canceled.
