Bluetooth 5 module supports long-range IoT
Materials and electronics company Taiyo Yuden (Tokyo, Japan) has announced a new Bluetooth 5-compatible wireless communications module with an integrated high-performance PCB antenna for implementing IoT devices in large areas such as factories.

The EYSKDNZWB Bluetooth module, says the company, can support a communication range that is three times as long as the company's existing product ( EYSKBNZWB), which supports the long-range function newly added in Bluetooth 5, by combining a proprietary advanced antenna technology with small-devices/high-density design techniques.

Measuring 9.6 x 12.9 x 1.4 mm, the EYSKDNZWB is offered as being best suited for outdoor-use security devices, IoT devices used in large factories, and IoT-related devices that require long-distance communications capability such as physical distribution terminals.

The company will be introducing the EYSKDNZWB at MWC19 Los Angeles later this month. Mass production of the product is expected to begin in November, with a sample price of 3,000 yen per unit (approx. $28).
