Custom analog/mixed-signal development company Celera (San Jose, CA) has announced the closing of a $3 million seed investment to develop and commercialize what it claims is a revolutionary new AI-based software automation platform to accelerate the development of analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits (AMSICs).

The fully automated AMSIC development platform boosts productivity by 100 times, says the company, freeing the industry by enabling existing opportunities to be captured with dramatically less development investment and opening up a vast array of newly viable opportunities for custom AMSIC development in many end markets. Additionally, the platform will empower non-semiconductor experts to define, create, and realize their own custom AMSICs.

Representing a $60 billion slice of the overall $500 billion IC industry, AMSICs' historical time and resource-intensive R&D workflow reportedly costs $8.5 billion/year with typical 12 to 24-month development times. The result, compounded by a persistent scarcity of engineering talent, says the company, is limited growth, profitability, and ROI.

"Celera has applied patented groundbreaking AI-based software and over two-hundred combined years of hands-on chip design experience to deliver the 'impossible' - Fully automated custom analog/mixed-signal IC design."

The company says it is currently engaged with several partners in the chip industry and delivering production IC designs. Also, for qualified interested parties, there is a live viewable platform demo.
