Additive manufacturing design tool has innovative texture module
With the 4D_Additive Manufacturing software suite, the software house CoreTechnologie GmbH (CT) aims to multiply design productivity. A special highlight of the software is an innovative texture module.

The texture module of the 4D_Additive Manufacturing Software enables developers and industrial designers to access over 5,000 different surface structures. The combination of the software with a precise B-Rep kernel and the high-resolution HP Jet Fusion process enables the additive production of very fine surfaces, which will in future be used for individualized decorative panels in vehicles and plastic design products.

Individualization and new component designs are an important innovative advantage in a highly competitive buyer's market. 4D_Additive makes it easy for users to define textures on the CAD model by simply selecting the desired B-Rep surfaces and a suitable texture from the database. The fineness and position of the structure can then be visually adjusted on the component. A rendered, almost photorealistic representation of the model accelerates the work and enables a direct evaluation of the print result. The software automatically ensures distortion-free projection of the surface structure across surface boundaries.

The tool reads CAD data of all common systems such as Catia, NX, Solidworks, Creo, Inventor, STEP or JT with manufacturing information (PMI) and processes it as B-Rep geometry. The B-Rep geometry core of the software enables the inspection, repair and preparation of the original surfaces and solids of the exact 3D models according to CAD engineering standards.

In addition to the innovative texture module, the 4D_Additive software suite has healing and clean-up functions, automated component alignment, intelligent nesting functions with multiprocessor calculation, an analysis tool for optimum component design, component optimization and envelope geometry, and a part finder as a search engine for 3D print parts for fully automatic classification of components on the basis of geometric properties of CAD models.
