With this measure, Xilinx enables the use of its MPSoCs in applications in the area of industrial IoT or industrial 4.0 platforms of future generations of automotive, aerospace and AI systems.
The independent evaluation of the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC family is a significant milestone in Xilinx’s functional safety product offering. This achievement builds on the industry’s first commercially available ARM-based SoC Zynq-7000. Xilinx thus demonstrates conformity with the functional safety requirements of on-chip redundancy (HFT=1). Both device families offer isolated functional areas on a single chip with hardware protection. This creates the required hardware fault tolerance consistent with on-chip redundancy.
In addition, developers can take advantage of embedded FPGA circuitry to accelerate performance beyond conventional software-based systems. They achieve the short response times and low latencies required by most safety-critical real-time systems. Xilinx has also introduced automotive-qualified XA Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs for increased security requirements that are ISO 26262 ASIL C certified.
In conjunction with the recent IEC 61508 safety certification of the supporting Vivado Design Suite by TÜV Süd, as well as the MicroBlaze compiler for additional soft processors by SGS-TÜV Saar, Xilinx now offers a comprehensive ecosystem with robust design flow, documentation, assessment reports and IP.
