Quantum encryption LiFi products offer next-gen network security

The company claims to be the first to combine LiFi – a wireless communication technology that utilizes light to transmit data between devices – and quantum encryption technology for individual users. By marrying the two groundbreaking technologies, says the company, it is setting the stage for a new type of wireless networking with unparalleled security, improved speed, and reduced latency.

The release of its first two products, says the company, gives users instant quantum encryption right out of the box with LiFi infrastructure coming in the future. Light Rider LT and Light Rider Quantum both leverage quantum technologies, one using quantum software and the other with an onboard quantum processor. The end user can easily connect a variety of devices, including computers and mobile phones, through a software application. Next, the end user can select the data they wish to encrypt using the company’s devices.

The products mitigate security risks by using light to transmit and encrypt data rather than radio waves traditionally used for Wi-Fi connections. By using the existing light in the physical workspace of the user, unwelcomed individuals cannot access the connection remotely, making it nearly impossible to hack. In addition, all the products leverage the power of quantum computing to encrypt data to ensure maximum security.

Quantum technology, says the company, is becoming mainstream with millions of TikTok users embracing a new app, Randonautica. The geolocation app uses quantum technology to generate random locations, the same technology that Light Rider products use to lock and unlock electronic devices.

“Traditional methods and technologies are full of vulnerabilities, so we created Light Rider to design and develop products that would enable the most secure network encryption possible,” says Tony Lawrence, CEO and founder of Light Rider. “There is a global race to operationalize quantum technology, meaning those inflicting cyberthreats will have access to this superior technology. Our mission at Light Rider is to equip businesses, organizations and individuals with powerful, quantum LiFi technology that will protect their data, as we strive to create products that are unhackable.”

Light Rider products will work on both the conventional internet and the future quantum internet. As quantum data leaves fiber optic uplinks, Light Rider will deliver it directly to IoT devices while secured by quantum encryption.

Designed for businesses with highly sensitive data, such as health care organizations, financial institutions or government agencies and individual, at-home users, the company’s current products, and those in development, are offered as providing a variety of benefits:

  • Security: Quantum LiFi isn’t exposed to the same vulnerabilities as Wi-Fi. When Light Rider’s LiFi products are connected to a lighting system, users restrict access to everyone who is not physically near the light source. Additionally, quantum software and hardware integrated into Light Rider’s products add another level of security, encrypting the data.
  • Speed: Light Rider’s LiFi products create a connection through light, enabling the signals and data to transmit at a speed of 1 billion bits per second. For comparison, Wi-Fi connections made through radio waves transmit data at a speed that’s approximately 100 times slower than the connection made through LiFi.
  • Improved Connection/Reduced Latency: With the high number of devices using Wi-Fi to transmit data, there are often latency issues and the spectrum of radio waves available to transmit data is finite. However, the number of light waves available for LiFi connections is about 10,000 times larger.

A Light Rider Launch crowdfunding campaign is currently running that will enable contributors to be the first to receive Light Rider LT and Light Rider Quantum products. The company recently filed patents for its technology and its first two products are expected to be available for purchase later this year.
