AMD has launched a pin compatible embedded x86 processor to boost its mid-range line for industrial and robotics applications.

The Ryzen Embedded R2000 Series is the second-generation mid-range system-on-chip (SoC) processors optimized for a wide range of industrial and robotics systems, machine vision, IoT and thin-client equipment.

It is pin compatible with the R1000 family but provides twice the core count and nearly twice the performance at 81%.

The R200 has up to four, dual-thread Zen+ cores and 2MB of L2 cache and 4MB of shared L3 cache. Up to eight Radeon graphic processing cores can drive up to four independent displays in 4K resolution via the DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, or eDP 1.3 interfaces

With support for up to 3200 MT/s DDR4 dual-channel memory and expanded I/O connectivity, the Ryzen Embedded R2000 Series processors deliver 50 percent higher memory bandwidth and up to 2X greater I/O connectivity compared to R1000 series processors.

Product availability is a key requirement, and the R2000 extends up to 10 years, providing customers with a long-lifecycle support roadmap.
