The new additions to the Oslon Black family feature a high pulse load capacity of up to 5 A – up to now 3 A have been common. The IREDs are particularly bright and emit up to 2.0 W optical power in continuous operation. The six new IRED variants are available in different wavelengths and beam angles: SFH 4715AS A01, SFH 4716AS A01 and SFH 4717AS A01 all have a wavelength of 850 nm and a beam angle of ±40°, ±75° and ±25° respectively. The SFH 4725AS A01, SFH 4726 A01 and SFH 4727AS A01 all have a wavelength of 940 nm and a radiation angle of ±40°, ±75° and ±25° respectively. The use of a high refractive silicone for the lens makes it particularly flat, which means that little light is lost laterally. The maximum operating temperature of the IRED is 125° C.

The high optical pulse powers and the wide selection of integrated lens variants enable the system designer to select the right IRED for almost any application without having to use secondary optics. Infrared light sources are perceived by the human eye in a wavelength range < 900 nm as red glow. This red impression is largely suppressed at 940 nm.
