TDK Corporation has introduced the miniaturized TPLC55303030-592H transponder coil for tire pressure monitoring systems designed for 125 kHz center frequency. With dimensions of only 5.5 x 3.0 x 3.0 mm3, the component requires 30 percent less floor space than its predecessor.

Thanks to the optimized core geometry and the optimized material, the new transponder coil offers a high sensitivity of around 25 mV/µT. It allows the tire pressure monitoring system to be initialized at the same distance as the larger predecessor model with an edge length of 8 mm. The inductance of the new coil is 5.89 mH at a minimum Q value of 35; the DC resistance is 70 Ω. The AEC-Q200 qualified device is RoHS compliant and is designed for the automotive temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C.
