Holographic smartphone introduced by pro camera maker
The Android phone – dubbed “Hydrogen One” – will have a 5.7-inch holographic display and a starting list price of $1195. According to the company, the phone’s display features nanotechnology that seamlessly switches between 2D and 3D content.
The display supports all traditional 2D content at full resolution, holographic “RED Hydrogen 4-View” content (H4V), and stereo 3D content, as well as 2D/3D VR, AR and mixed-reality (MR) content. In terms of audio, the phone features a proprietary algorithm that converts stereo sound into multi-dimensional audio.
The Hydrogen One is being offered as the foundation of a future multi-dimensional media system that will integrate into the company’s professional camera program as a user interface and monitor. The phone features a new high-speed data bus that, says the company, enables a modular system that will include future attachments.
The Hydrogen One will come in two versions – the base “Aluminum” model, and the “Titanium” model, which will cost $1,595. The phone is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2018.
